TUT Runners Tackle the Comrades Marathon

In a powerful display of focus and endurance, at least five Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) athletes participated in and successfully completed the 2026 Comrades Marathon. The Comrades Marathon is widely regarded as one of the toughest ultramarathons in the world. This year, runners tackled the challenging route from Durban to the finish line in Pietermaritzburg.
The 2026 TUT runners embodied the unbreakable spirit of the University. In the process, they also showcased one of the university’s core values - resilience.
The TUT athletes tackled the gruelling marathon with grit and and determination, producing excellent results:
- Justice Vuma – TUT Athletics Club, 10:27:05 (2nd Comrades)
- Herold Mashilo Makola - TUT Athletics Club , 10:58:22 (14th Comrades)
- Katlego Sebopelo, TUT Athletics Club, 11:12:55 (1st Comrades)
- Vernon Tiego Masango - TUT Athletics Club, 11:18:40 (2nd Comrades)
- Tseliso Motsomi - TUT’s Institute for the Future of Work, 11:50:00 (4th Comrades)
