Dear TUT students, staff, alumni, stakeholders, partners and friends across the globe, As 2025 draws to a close, I extend my heartfelt festive greetings to you all.

Together, we have moved TUT further up the road from good to great.

Among our key 2025 highlights are:

  • Achieving a clean audit outcome for the Tshwane University of Technology in 2024;
  • Launching the Startup Huddle Pretoria to empower young entrepreneurs and foster job creation;
  • Continuing to build institutional research capacity and reputation through, among others, the steady increment of numbers of rated researchers, postdoc fellows, research chairs, staff with PhDs and Academy of Science of South Africa memberships. Although we are not there yet, these should soon translate into increased research output numbers;
  • Securing the prestigious FISU Healthy Campus Gold Label, in recognition of our outstanding commitment to holistic well-being through enhanced fitness programmes, mental health support, nutrition initiatives, disease prevention, sustainable practices and inclusive community engagement. We are surely on our way towards Platinum certification.
  • Our Solar Car Project team winning the esteemed CAETS Communication Prize - and thus underscoring our growing international stature as a University of Technology.

Armed with our new Institutional Strategic Plan 2026–2035, we shall continue ‘entrepreneuring’ and shaping the future of work.

Wishing you and your loved ones a safe and restful festive season.

May the festive season enable you to recover, reconnect and recharge, so that together we can tackle 2026 with even more zest and diligence.

Warmest regards,

Prof Tinyiko Maluleke
Vice-Chancellor and Principal
